A pair of dueling bus tours rolled into Manchester Thursday.
One is sworn to defend Planned Parenthood, and the other on a mission to eliminate any federal funding for the organization.
NHPR Correspondent Carol Robidoux has more.
The hot pink Planned Parenthood Truth Team bus arrived first, drawing supporters to a rally in Victory Park.
Steve Trombley, CEO of the group's local chapter, said the current debate in Congress about federal funding for family services is not about balancing budgets.
He said lawmakers on both sides of the aisle know that family planning services actually save tax dollars.
"….. Well we all know and they know that not a penny of federal moneyh is used to pay for abortion services at PP or any other Title 10 provider in this state."
Two blocks away, a bus chartered by the Susan B. Anthony List was parked in front of Congressman Frank Guinta's district office.
Guinta had voted to cut family services funding.
"It is wonderful to be able to thank a congressman for doing the right thing. Thank you, Frank Guinta. Thank you."
That's Marilyn Musgrave, project director for the anti-abortion group's five-day national "Votes have Consequences" bus tour.
Both buses head to New Jersey tomorrow, then on to Washington, D.C.
